Phoenix Engineering LLC and their web hosting and content
management operating groups are committed to protecting the
privacy of our clients and web visitors. You can visit most
pages on our sites without giving us any information about
yourself. There are obviously times we wish and need to ask
certain information in order to respond and provide the
information and services that you may request. This privacy
statement explains our data collection rules and use in
those situations.
Phoenix “Ok-for-Kids” policy will apply to
ALL of our sites and
ALL sites we host, manage, maintain, or
participate in.
This is our original and now famous “Ok-for-Kids” policy. We
will not design, support, host, or do content management for
any internet site or destination that is not “Ok-for-Kids”.
That means if a young child should not visit a site because
of information or content not suitable for young readers, we
will not maintain that site nor we will not participate in
its development or hosting. If you discover any of our
client’s sites violate this policy please advise us
immediately. We have zero tolerance for individuals or
clients posting material on our servers that is not
appropriate for ALL viewers, regardless of age, religion,
sex, or culture.
Collection of your Personal Information
We will always inform you in advance when we need
information that personally identifies you (personal
information) or allows us to contact you. Generally, this
information is requested when you are registering to request
one of our services, signing up for a seminar, event, client
newsletter, or when purchasing or registering for future
services. Personal information collected by Phoenix
Engineering is usually limited to e-mail address, language,
country or location. Sometimes we may ask for additional
information when needed to provide a service you requested.
e-commerce or electronic requests for credit card
information:
Any e-commerce or electronic requests for credit card
information or transmission of confidential credit card
information will ALWAYS be done through a secure socket
layer (SSL) and always have highly visible illustrations and
information available to describe the security level and
privacy policy. Our corporate and client e-commerce services
are managed by industry standard secure SSL add-in
commercial third-party e-commerce systems, such as
Microsoft’s b-Central. (www.b-Central.com or www.PayPal.com).
It is a standard practice among these secured 3rd party
providers to delete all credit card and financial
information after a specific period of time or once a
transaction has been fulfilled. Phoenix does NOT request,
record, or store financial billing or credit card
information on any servers that are not equipped with
industry standard SSL and security features..
Requests for alternate billing methods:
There are times when complex and detailed orders for
services or products are initiated by web visitors using
e-mail forms that request only account name, address, city,
state, zip, telephone number, billing preferences, and
comments. After receipt or advice, an operator calls the
ordering party on a pre-defined telephone number for further
options and clarifications. During such a telephone call -
the user may elect to use their credit card or request
corporate invoicing against a purchase order. We refer to
these communications in bold letters on the web site – and
they are clearly marked “Order here – Do NOT include credit
card or confidential billing information – We will call you
back via telephone to confirm”
Statistical Information Gathering
Phoenix also collects certain information about visitor’s
computer hardware and software. This information may include
IP address, browser type, operating system, domain name,
access times and referring Web site addresses. This
information is to assist the operation of our services, to
maintain quality of the service, and to provide general
anonymous statistics regarding use of our servers. Phoenix
also collects information about which pages, sub webs,
images, forms, and features visitors go to within a specific
site. Only a unique ID number may identify this site
visitation data, and it has no link with personal
information and is always anonymous - unless a user consents
in advance to be identified as described below.
Use of your Personal Information
When applicable, we use our personal client information for
the following purposes:
- At your request, to ensure our
site offerings are relevant to your needs.
- At your request, to deliver
services, such as newsletters, events, training or
software that you request or purchase.
- At your option, in response to
help us create and publish content most relevant to your
client requirements.
- At your request, to alert you
to software and / or product upgrades, special offers,
updated information and other new services from Phoenix
and their operating groups.
- We may merge non-personal
site-visitation data with anonymous demographic
information for research purposes, and we may use this
information to provide more relevant web content and
support.
We may also be required to disclose
elements of information by State or Federal law or in the good-faith belief that
such action is necessary to conform to the edicts of
such laws or comply with legal process;
protect and defend the rights or property of Phoenix; or
act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety
of individuals within or outside Phoenix
Control of your Personal Information
When you register, or otherwise give us personal
information, Phoenix / MazeTech will not share that
information with third parties without your written
permission, other than for the limited exceptions already
listed above.
Security of your Personal Information
Phoenix is committed to protecting the security of your
personal information. We use a variety of security
technologies and procedures to help protect your personal
information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. For
example, we store the personal information you provide in
computer servers with limited access that are located in
controlled facilities. When and if we transmit sensitive
information (such as a credit card number) over the
internet, we protect it with encryption, such as the Secure
Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.
Protection of Children's Personal
Information
Phoenix is a general audience site and does not knowingly
collect any personal information from children. With our
'Ok-For-Kids' rules there is no reason for us or our
business clients
to gather age specific information. There are services
provided by us and some of our clients that request
information such as 'novice', 'professional', 'expert', and
so on in attempting to profile a visitors technical and
software experience level.
Use of Cookies:
We use temporary expiring cookie browser
technology to implement secure and private "Members Only"
and other secure portals. We request clients who do use ‘cookies’
to make such a declaration and have their privacy policies
posted and up to date. We have no opinion or judgment on the
use of web cookies – they are part of the web
technology and required in secure and session intervals. We
do not agree with the trend for indiscriminate use of cookie
or web bot technology used by many sales webs to latch or
harvest user computer information without advising users.
Definition of a "Cookie"
A "cookie” is a small text file that a website can place on
your computer's hard drive in order, for example, to collect
information about your activities on the site or to make it
possible for you to use an online "shopping cart" to keep
track of items you wish to purchase. The cookie transmits
this information back to the Web site's computer, which,
generally speaking, is the only computer that can read it.
Most consumers do not know that "cookies" are being placed
on their computers when they visit websites. If you want to
know when this happens, or to prevent it from happening, you
can set your browser to warn you when a website attempts to
place a "cookie" on your computer.
Changes to this Statement
Phoenix Engineering LLC will occasionally update this web
and internet privacy statement. When we do, we will also
revise the "last updated" date at the top of the privacy
statement. For material changes to this statement, we will
notify you by placing prominent notice on the Web site.
